Alice Kathleen Smith, age 80, a resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017.  Born in Chicago on October 2, 1936, Alice was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Church in Round Lake.  She was an American Legion Lady-Bug.  She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Family and friends always came first in her heart.  She is survived by her children, Norman (Jennifer) Smith of Seattle, WA, Kathy (Rick) Welter of Johnsburg, Ken (Robin) Smith of Grayslake, and Linda (Joseph) Johnson of Round Lake Beach; her grandchildren, Rik Welter, Steve Welter, Christopher Smith, Katie Smith, Grant Smith, Troy Smith, Brandon Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Evelyn Johnson, Eric Johnson, Faith Smith, Luke Smith and Jeremiah Smith; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elmer John Stevens "Steve", Joan (Herman) Kaiser of Paducah, KY and Bernice (Don) Elia of Scottsdale, AZ.  Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norman J. Smith, her mother, Eleanor Rasmussen-Stevens-Teague, her brother, Elmer J. Stevens, and her sister, Bernice Elia.  Friends of the family may visit on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church,  114 Lincoln Avenue, Round Lake, IL 60073.  Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, 33100 North Hunt Club Road in Libertyville.
