Obituary's Biography:

Jonny Fred Volpendesta of Pleasant Prairie WI passed away peacefully on Sunday March 26, 2023.  Born in Highwood on 10/27/48 to John and Tina, he lived most his life in Highwood, IL working for various construction contractors and later retiring from his local school district.  Surviving him is his beloved wife of 54 years Sherry (Kellner) Volpendesta, his son Jon (Nancy) Volpendesta, his daughter Melanie (Eric) Guenther.  Grandfather to Kaitlin (Alex) Bader, Daniel Volpendesta, Emma, Taylor and Peyton Guenther.  Great- Grandfather to Mia Bader.

A brief visitation in Jonny’s memory will take place Thursday April 6 , 2023 from 5-7pm with a short service to follow at 7:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel and Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd Grayslake Il. For more information log onto www.strangfuneral.org or contact (847)223-8122

So sorry for your loss so many memories one that sticks in my mind is around Halloween carving pumpkins withJon and sherry and 2 German shepherd watching us also visiting you both on high wood when I lived across the street and many more memories growing up grandmas cookies and soup many get together. I will always remember!!! Rest in peace Your cousin karol

  2. Got to know Jonny at Northwood Jr High. We we’re on a lot of the same classes. Good guy. Knew Sherry from high school. Ran track with her brother. Prayers on everyone’s behalf.

  3. At Oak Terrace and later at HPHS, I knew Jonny. I remember him as a gentle and fun loving guy. I’m so sad that he has left this earth so soon. May his memory be a blessing.

  4. At Oak Terrace and Northwood, Jonny was like a big brother to me. I felt a kindred spirit, someone, with whom I could share my feelings and thoughts. He was kind and open and hysterically funny. His heart was huge
