Obituary's Biography:

Vijaya Ramchandra Soni, a resident of Mumbai, India, passed away on May 28, 2022. She was born on March 23, 1943 in Bihar, India. She was one of four siblings. She had a Master’s degree in Hindi and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She moved to Mumbai after her marriage to Late Prof. Ramchandra Soni, in December 1969. She taught Hindi, for almost a decade, at a school in Mumbai. Her interests were varied – while on one hand she had deep knowledge about Hindi and its etymology, on the other hand, she was well versed on plants, foods, and their medicinal values. She was an avid reader and one of her favorite author’s was Meena Prabhu whose travelogues she enjoyed reading. She also spent time translating English books to Hindi. In her later years she had developed an interest in cricket. Her two favorite films were Lagaan & M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story. Her other hobbies included gardening, music, and spending time with her loved ones.

Vijaya cared deeply for her family and friends. She had tremendous grace and patience to accept whatever life brought her way. With Covid restricting her travel to the US for almost 2 years, she was finally here to visit with her children & her grandchildren. Vijaya is survived by her sons, Anabhra and Anshuman and their families. A visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL, 60030 on Sunday, June 5th, from  2:00 -3:00 PM
