Obituary

Thomas A. Pompeo, 73, a resident of Antioch, IL, passed away July 12, 2026 at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL.  He was born May 18,1953 in Chicago, IL to Anthony and Therese Pompeo.

Tom was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago White Sox.  He and Francine attended many spring training games as well as regular season games together.  He also enjoyed collecting trains and riding his motorcycle.  Tom was a traveler, he enjoyed many years camping with family and friends up in Minocqua, WI or anywhere he could golf.  If he wasn't out on the road, you could find him lounging at the pool in his own back yard. Tom was a visionary, he could see things no one else saw or could imagine.  In recent years Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. Tom lived life loudly and never missed an opportunity to tell you how he felt.

Tom was the documenter of our lives, whether it was camping trips, birthdays, pool parties, sporting events, or holidays.  He stored every movie or song ever made and made sure we all took advantage of that.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 42 years, Francine Pompeo, his granddaughters Jessica Pompeo and Lily Salgado, his sister Barbara (James) Jenkins, his Auntie Bea Mroz, his numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his children Joshua Pompeo and Amanda Pompeo, parents, and his bother Don Pompeo.

A memorial visitation and service are scheduled for Saturday, July 18,2026 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm with the memorial service commencing at 4:00pm.  Interment will be held privately.  Memorial contributions can be made to Open Arms Mission in Antioch or your charity of choice.
