Obituary

Robert C. Jagla, 56, a resident of Door County, WI and most recently Grayslake, IL, passed away June 23, 2026 at his home in the company of his family.  He was born May 5, 1970 in Berwyn, IL to Robert and Donna Jagla.

Robert is survived by his mother Donna Smagur and his sister Laura (Joseph) Sullivan.  He was preceded in death by his father and his daughter Rachael Jagla.

Robert was known for his sense of humor and his great love for nature and the outdoors. He worked tirelessly for the conservation of our natural ecosystems and cared deeply about the lives of the vulnerable and the small. Robert advocated for the mental and physical benefits of having  a good nature walk, appreciating the beauty that was every day. To be in his company was to be invited to the party, he always made you feel welcome, and made sure to enjoy life as hard as he worked. Robert lived and loved completely.  He was an incredibly intelligent man, and a loving father, son, and brother.

A visitation and funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm with the service commencing at 5:00pm.  Interment will be held privately.  Memorial donations may be made to your favorite conservation charity.
