Mary M. Stang, 87, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away February 4, 2026 at her home. She was born May 15, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Harriet Sheehan. She was a loving wife and a wonderful mother. 

Mary was a long standing member and usher of St. Gilbert Catholic Church. She was a registered nurse for Winchester House, and was the co-owner of Les's Lounge in Gages Lake and Grayslake. Mary was an avid Cubs and Bears fan; for over 30 years she and Les would travel to Arizona for spring training. She was a full blooded Irish woman that enjoyed bowling, gardening, and crocheting, especially the yearly Santa faces she would hand out to friends and family. 

Mary is survived by her children Maggie (James) Lesza, Leslie (Mark) Schwenk, Penny (Jimmy) Sivia, Patty Black, Mike (Sally) Stang, Charles Stang, and Timothy (Tina) Stang, her 24 grandchildren, her 28 great-grandchildren, her sisters Patricia Ray, Harriet (Larry) Rawls, and Kathleen Sheehan, and her sister-in-law Evie Munts. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Les Stang, and her sons-in-law Skip Don and Amos Black.

A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral mass is scheduled for Thursday, February 12, 2026 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church 301 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 at 10:00am. The interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Libertyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grayslake Fire and Rescue.
