Mary Lois Kotarba, 76, a resident of Grayslake, IL for 48 years, passed away on June 16, 2026 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born on December 27, 1949 to Richard and Lois Alsup. Mary grew up in Prospect Heights, IL. She graduated from Wheeling Highschool Class of 1968. Mary enjoyed playing clarinet in the high school marching band and working on the set for school plays. She had a love for math. Mary worked many different jobs including, mail carrier for the USPS, accounting jobs, and worked on the lines and forklift at Motorola in Libertyville, and Harvard, IL. Mary was kind, and compassionate. She was a proud grandma, mother and wife. Mary was blessed with many friends and family. She was an active member of Maranatha Baptist Church of Grayslake, IL and taught Sunday School to the little children, including her granddaughter, for many years. She loved and was faithful to Jesus Christ. Mary was also was active in Right to Life marches to DC and local locations. She volunteered and attended in many other local churches as a member, including Faith Baptist Church of Grayslake, IL and Gages Lake Bible Church, Wildwood, IL. Mary will be truly missed.
Mary is survived by her children, Sherry (David) Hannan, John (Amber) Kotarba, Jr., and Stacey Kotarba; her grandchildren, Michelle Hannan, Jimmy Hannan, Katerina Kotarba, and Mia Kotarba; her siblings, Dan Alsup and Betsy Tomlinson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kotarba; her siblings, Tim and Bonnie Alsup; her nephew, Brian Alsup and her parents.
A Visitation will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Monday, June 29, 2026 from 4pm until 8pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Maranatha Baptist Church, 31457 N. Alleghany Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 10am.
