Kimberly Nordmark, 71, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away February 9, 2026, at her home. Born on  July 2, 1954, Kim was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Dolores M. (Mielke) Peck.  A graduate of Holy Child High School in Waukegan, IL, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Southern Illinois University.  Kim then went to work at Abbot Laboratories in the Diagnostic Division as a Research Scientist, retiring in 2010 after 30 years of service.

Kim met Gary Nordmark while working at Abbott.  They were married on September 18, 1982 in Waukegan, IL and moved to Grayslake, IL shortly thereafter.  Kim had many hobbies which included reading, gardening, even winning blue ribbon medals for her Bonsai trees.  Her love for animals extended to volunteering at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.  She also enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Deerbrook, WI.  Her laughter, sense of humor, keen wit, and smile will be missed by all who knew her especially by her pug, Maggie.

Kim is survived by her husband of 44 years, Gary Nordmark, her sisters-in-law Suzanne Nordmark and Jill (Rick) Barbieri, her aunt Mary Mielke,  her cousins Debbie (Tom) Fallon, Karen Huladek, Pat Monteen, and Robert (Shirley) Komarec, and her pug Maggie.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her uncle Gerald Mielke, her aunt Jeanne Komarec, and her cousin Chris Royce.

A memorial visitation and service are scheduled for Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030 from 11:00am until 1:00pmm with the service commencing at 1:00pm.  Interment will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save-A-Pet in Grayslake, IL.
