Michael E. Davis

Published November 06,2022

Obituary's Biography:

Michael Eugene Davis, age 68, a resident of Grayslake, IL, passed away on November 4, 2022 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, IL.  He was born on September 26, 1954 in Kirksville, MO to Ken and Delores Davis.

Michael is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah (née Kepler); his mother, Delores (née Bell) Davis; his sons, Jason (Fabiola Escaray) Davis of Madrid, Spain and Brandon (Alexis Fogel) Davis of Oakland, CA; his granddaughters, Camila and Isabella; his brother-in-law, Mike Reynolds; his nieces, Jodee and Andrea; and his nephew, Jeremy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ken Davis; and his sister, Patricia Reynolds.

Michael dedicated 33 years of employment at the United States Post Office before retiring in 2017. He was an active and proud member of the deaf community, having attended the Illinois School for the Deaf from 1961-1974. Michael met his wife at Waubonsee Community College and after quickly falling in love, planted roots in Lake County.

Michael and his wife were avid bowling, cornhole, ladders, and card players. They loved traveling the world together, visiting their boys and beautiful granddaughters, and spending time with their wonderful network of friends. Despite his wife’s love for the Cubs, he was a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan. Michael was blessed with many furry companions (Kia, Abe, and most recently Popcorn), and enjoyed brisk – but not too cold – walks with them in the snow.

Above all, Michael was a selflessly dedicated husband and father who will be dearly missed by the many who he touched through community, laughter, and games.

A funeral service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 11:30am.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service.  Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park.  For more information, please call (847) 223-8122 or visit www.StrangFuneral.org.

  16. I worked with Debbie for many years never had the pleasure of meeting her husband Mike. After I retired and moved away have kept in touch with Debbie and her husband Mike. Have enjoyed the many travels they have shared on FB. Lost the love of my life 6 years ago so I can feel the sorrow, the Rand Family in Florida is sending our condolences to Debbie, your sons and family with much love to you all always in our prayers

  17. I am sending all of you who are still living my greatest condolences. Michael Davis would have been my classmate, too, but I skipped senior and went Gallaudet. I think I had met him only once when we had 25-years Class Reunion at Jacksonville when multi-classes gather together at one time & other one or two. I believe Michael D. was also involved in Hilton Hotel fire back in 1970? If so, I was among some who did. Since I am still living in Arizona and few times elsewhere, I have not been around ISD quite often as I like to, however, my heart is always with him and everyone else whether I know any of you directly or not in person and spiritual! May Christ be with you all, always!

  18. My deep Sympathy to Debbie and family. I remember old times at Waubonsee Community College and St. Mary Church. Michael is a nice guy to talk with. I am thinking of you and your family. God bless and comfort ❤️ Hugs
