Obituary's Biography:

Louise Henriette Dandino (née Patin), 101, of Deerfield, IL, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025, a month before of her 102nd birthday. Louise, known as Mémé to her ten grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was born in Bonneville, France, on August 18, 1923. She grew up in Paris and moved to Fontainebleau where, as a young woman, she met American armyman John “Danny” Dandino. They were married after World War II, had two children, Philippe and Marie-Laure (“Mimi”), and remained in France for twenty years before moving their family to the United States in 1964. They settled in Deerfield, IL, where Louise lived for over fifty years. A consummate career woman at a time when it was uncommon for women to hold high-level positions, Louise worked for the French Tourist Bureau and then in a senior position at Globus Gateway, a wholesale tour operator in downtown Chicago. She continued at Globus until her retirement in 2000. Louise was known for her keen intelligence, her wonderful Bastille Day and Christmas Eve parties, her voracious reading, her tremendous cooking—including escargot, charlotte, and coquille saint jacques—and for her sharp retorts!

She is predeceased by her husband, John, and daughter, Mimi, and survived by her son, Philippe Dandino (Natalie), and her grandchildren, Kim Aronson (Kris), Daniel Aronson, Christopher Dandino (Moira), Jessica Garrison (Andrew), and Gregory Dandino, and five great-grandchildren.

A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Strang Funeral Chapel, 410 E Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030 on Tuesday, July 22nd from 9:30am until 10am, with a service commencing at 10am.  Burial will take place at East Fox Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to any charity of your choice may be made on behalf of Louise. For more information, please call (847)223-8122 or visit www.StrangFuneral.org.
