Obituary's Biography:

Michael William Markus, age 61, a resident of Ingleside, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago.  He was born July 8, 1956 in Waukegan to Harold and Dolores (nee Freeman) Markus.  Michael had mad chef skills; he feared no spice and measured nothing. The US Army began his culinary lust and every meal was a mouthwatering adventure.  On Sunday mornings he would dance in the kitchen with the love of his life Paula Martinez.  He treasured every artist and every song from the 50s through 1990–then, as Mike tells it, “Music went to hell.”  He was a north sider for sure and proudly wore #10 to all Cubs home games.  The icing on his cake was actually icing on the rink as he cherished the Chicago Blackhawks.  He loved history and often said he never forgot a good date!  Mike loved to travel and taste new cultures and lifestyles.  He was a fun loving prankster who was quick to laugh, he was kind and oh so patient but most of all he was deeply loved.   He is survived by the love of his life, Paula Martinez; his doppelganger son, Christopher, and his loving daughter-in-law Pam of McHenry; his siblings, Harry of Round Lake Park, Laurie Ann (Rich) Anderson of Round Lake Beach, Bill of Georgia, Julie of Ingleside, “Deedee” (Stan) Strong of Edgerton, WI, and Florence of Arabia.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 East Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL 60030.  For information, please call 847-223-8122 or go to www.strangfuneral.org.
