Georgia Bettes Norlin, Lake Barrington resident, formerly of Deerfield, (Northwestern Class of ’47) the beloved star of stage, radio, television, her family, and an entire audience of fabulous friends, passed away with her children Eric and Nancy at her side on Wed. May 8, 2013 at the exquisite age of 89 years and 11 days. She was preceded in death by her accompanist and husband Lloyd B. Norlin, her sisters, and parents. A toast to her past and a toast to her future was an on-going production by her family including Eric and daughter-in-“love” Dee; Nancy and son-in-“love” Kurt, along with her “grands” Kimberly, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Ben, Kyle, and Timothy. A memorial service is being planned for a yet-to-be-determined date in the near future. In a typically unselfish gesture, Georgia donated her earthly remains (as did husband Lloyd) to the Anatomical Gift Society, immediately upon her death. She has finally succumbed to technology, posthumously, with the creation of the “Georgia B. Norlin’s Fans” page on Facebook, of which you can follow for updates on the memorial service, etc. Donations may be made to her past volunteer efforts of Journey Care and/or the Barrington Area Council of Aging (BACOA), both of Barrington. Arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. www.strangfuneral.org.
