Lorret Petersen

Mildred “Rusty” Canty

Mrs. Mildred “Rusty” Canty, 84, of Ingleside, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Manor Care in Libertyville, Illinois. Rusty was born on January 14, 1928 and raised in Newton, Iowa. She and her husband Herb married on June 5, 1948. They resided in Grayslake for many years before making their home in Ingleside. After her husband’s passing in 1981, Rusty remained in their home until her passing on Thanksgiving Day. Rusty and Herb owned and operated Herb’s Drive In from 1957 to 1968 on Rte 120 in Grayslake. After the sale of their business, she worked for several companies pursuing a career in Real Estate. A patriot, she was interested and involved in politics and served for several years as an Election Judge. After her retirement, Rusty began tutoring at the College of Lake County, teaching a multitude of subjects including History and the Constitution, and assisting many students in getting their GED. This brought her untold pleasure and satisfaction for the past twenty years. Rusty Canty cherished family and is survived by four children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Eldest son Dr. Timothy C. Canty, DDS (wife: Patricia Canty, RN, MSN) of Libertyville and their children Matt Canty, Sarah Canty-Hemenover (husband: Matt Hemenover and their two sons Mason and Ryan) and Dr. David Canty, DMD, and the late Sean Canty; Twin sons Mitchell R. Canty of Reynoldsburg, OH and his children Eric Canty (Wife: Laura Canty), Mark Canty, Brett Canty-Way (husband: Nick Way), Chris Canty and Megan Canty; and twin Michael R. Peggy L. Klask

Peggy L. Klask, a 40 year resident of Round Lake Beach, passed away Sunday November 25, 2012 at the age of 67. She was born December 3, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Agnes Bensinger. Florence Bartsch 96 years old resident of Round Lake Beach passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. Life time resident of Chicago,. Joanna Lynn Johnson

Joanna Lynn Johnson, “Lynn” to everyone who knew her, a 45-year-old longtime Antioch resident, formerly of Grayslake, passed away Thu. Nov. 22, 2012 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born in Danville on Aug. 15, 1967. Lynn went to St. Gilbert Catholic School in Grayslake, and graduated from Grayslake High School in 1985. She was the beloved wife of nine years to Tim Johnson, whom she married on Mar. 3, 2003 in Waukegan; the loving mother of Jacob Summers and step-mother of Brian, Michael (Melissa), Kristin, and Markie Johnson; the doting grandmother of Ashton, Alyssa, Kerstin, Rechell, Daymein, Kyla, Jason, Desarae, and Payton; the dear sister of David (Mary) Holden; the cherished daughter of Harold and Kay {nee Wiser} Holden; the fond aunt of James, great-aunt of Kayden and Avery; the much-loved granddaughter of Genevieve Wiser. Her maternal grandfather Joseph Wiser, and paternal grandparents Howard and Bernice Holden preceded her in death. Carl L. Kendall

Carl L. Kendall, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Monday November 19, 2012 at Condell in Libertyville, IL, at the age of 88. He was born November 6, 1924 in South Haven, Michigan to Wynn and Anna (nee: Lauman) Kendall. Carl was a member of the Brotherhood of Union Carpenters and was a World War II veteran having served with the US Army in the Philippines. Carl is survived by his wife of 15 years, Eileen, whom he wed on February 15, 1997 in Grayslake, IL, his sons Steve (Patti) Kendall and David (Kim) Kendall, his grandchildren Patrick (Sara), Stephanie, Derek, Dana, and Nicole, his 2 great-grandchildren, his step-children Ramona Buquet, Kathy Buquet, Lory (Dan) Porter, Rich (Carolyn) Buquet, and Karen (Mike) Brockman, 21 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren. Lee Otis Mieure

Lee “Coach” Otis Mieure, a resident of Antioch, passed away Tuesday November 20, 2012, at the age of 83. He was born February 5, 1929 in Lawrence County, IL to Garl and Myrtle Mieure. Lee was a graduate of Eastern Illinois in 1952 with a teaching degree, and in 1963 earned his master’s degree in guidance counseling from University of Illinois in 1963. Lee was in education from 1952 until 1991 with his last 15 years at Antioch Community High School until his retirement in 1991 from the guidance department. Lee was a veteran having served for the US Army receiving his honorable discharge in August of 1948. He earned the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal of Italy. Lee was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 525 in Antioch and a member of the Northern Officials Association (NOA) for over 30 years. As a member of the NOA he worked 3 IHSA Football Championships and officiated at the first 4A State Playoffs. He worked 2 IHSA Girls Basketball Finals which included the Tournament’s second year of existence. Lee was the Assignment Chairman for 3 conferences (North Suburban, Northwest Suburban, and Tri-County), consisting of 22 schools covering 6 sports (football, basketball, baseball, softball, wrestling, and volleyball). Lee was inducted into the Lake County Sports Hall of Fame being the first official to ever be inducted in 2003.  He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Lee is survived by his children Marcia (Wendy Gee) Fox, Judy (Bob) Bejcek, Tim (MaryEllen) Mieure, Greg (Sean Chuckas) Mieure, his grandchildren Tim Fox, Bob Carmody, Tom Carmody, Scott Carmody, Michael Carmody, Kim Burns, Katie Mieure, and David Mieure, his great-grandchildren Nicole Burns and Kyle Burns, his siblings Elsie (Wilbur) Pelham and Don (Judy) Mieure, his brother-in-law, Carl (Jane ) Hensley, and his best friend and companion Marilyn Vynalek. She was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wanda “Jean” Mieure, his brothers Hubert, Harold, Gerald, John, Gene, Bob, and Roger, and his sisters Helen, Ruby, and Lois, and his granddaughter Kari Bejcek. Connie Bieschke

Connie Lee Bieschke, a 70-year-old Elgin resident, passed away on Nov. 19, 2012.  Connie loved life, loved Jesus, and was well-loved by family, friends, and acquaintances around her. The only child of George and Mary Van Noy, Connie was born in Hollywood, FL, and spent much of her early life in New London, MO. Her first job was as a legal secretary for the Chicago law firm Owens, Owens and Rinn, where she met husband Walter when he was a young attorney in 1956. They married in 1968 on the University of Notre Dame campus, Walter’s alma mater. They raised sons Walter and Marcus in Chicago’s Northwest Side. In 1996, they moved to their dream home in Elgin, IL. Connie served as a deaconness in Elgin Bible Church. She was actively involved with the Elgin Police Department and served as a block captain in her neighborhood. Her family and friends loved her lively spirit, listening ear, and sparkling smile, as well as her enthusiasm for country decor and margaritas.  She is survived by her sons Walter Jr. (Susan)and Marcus (Annie); her grandchildren Ava, Chloe, George, Benjamin, Lucy, and Emma; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister Joan Bergman.  Her parents and husband Walter Sr. preceded her in death.  Friends of the family may visit at Elgin Bible Church, 1580 E. Mark Conerty

Mark J. Conerty, a 52-year-old Grayslake resident, passed away Tues. Nov. 20, 2012 at home in the presence of his loving family, after a year long struggle with brain cancer. He was born in Woodstock, IL on Sep. 6, 1960, the son of Joseph and Jane Conerty. Mark attended St. Mary’s and Marian Central Catholic schools, graduating from Marian Central in 1979. Mark will be remembered as much for his hard work ethic as his enjoyment of relaxing and being outdoors. His favorite escape was being on his boat on a sunny afternoon with his family. Mark was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing football and basketball in his youth, coaching his kids, and rooting for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His passion for genealogy kept him in touch with his heritage, of which he was quite proud. His greatest passion was being a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His life will forever be celebrated by his family and friends. Mark is survived by his wife Caroline {nee Fulmer}, whom he married on December 7, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock; his mother and stepdad Jane and Tom Cooney his son Jordan and daughters Paige and Kayla; his sisters Mary (Alan) Stilling, Pat (Terry) Clarke, and Marty Conerty; and his brother John (Kate) Conerty. His memory and spirit will also live on through his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, and uncles, whom he loved dearly. Annette D. Mirretti

Annette D. “Netta” Mirretti {nee DeHaan}, age 97, climbed the stairway to Heaven on Wed. Nov. 14, 2012.  She passed away at her home at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.  Annette is survived by her daughter Donna (Jim) Romaniuk; grandchildren Mark (Jennifer) Romaniuk and Dana (Luis Canal) Romaniuk; great-grandchildren Scott, Mallory, Tatum, Alivia, and Jack; sister Dorine Nolan; brother-in-law John (Mary Lou) Mirretti.  “Netta” was preceded in death by Jack N.
