Vidella L. Sloan
Vidella L. Sloan, a resident of Round Lake Park, passed away Thursday October 25, 2012, at the age of 72. She was born May 31, 1940 in Chicago to Jacob and Margaret Schintgen. Vidella was a warm, caring person, who always put family first. Vidella is survived by her son Daniel L. Sloan, her daughters Lisa Marie Cloe and Patricia Ann (Bob) Evans, three grandchildren, her brother John Schintgen, and her sister Judy Munn. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton Zander Sloan and her sister, Joanne Wolf. Russell Otto Hoeppner
Russell Otto Hoeppner, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Sunday October 28, 2012 at the age of 85. He was born May 15, 1927 in Chicago, IL. Russell was a veteran of the Navy having served during World War II. He served as Past Master of the Libertyville Masonic Lodge #492, an Honorary Member Sequoit Lodge #827 and Rising Sun Lodge #115. He was Grand Lecturer for the State of Illinois, the past TPM of Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, Valley of Chicago, and was past chairman of the Degree Team. Russell was a member of the Medinah Shrine and the Medinah Patrol Color Guard. Russell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Charlene, whom he wed on June 13, 1948 in Chicago, IL, his children Lynn Hoeppner of Grayslake and Scott Hoeppner of Grayslake, and he was the fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother William. Betty Jean Happ, an 85-year-old Crystal Lake resident, passed away Sunday morning, October 28, 2012 at Crystal Pines Nursing & Rehabilitation in Crystal Lake. She was born in Chicago on May 14, 1927 to the now late Arthur and Mary {nee Jessop} Kepler. Formerly of Chicago, Betty grew up in Gages Lake. Later in life, she resided in Spring Hill, FL for over 20 years, and stayed active with swimming and golfing. She was the beloved mother of Jerome “Jerry” (Virginia) Happ, Steve (Sandy) Happ, Marguerite “Peggy” Fiore, Catherine (Larry) Lounsbury, Carol (Pat) Bristol, Susan (Norman) Freund, Mark (Leslie) Happ, and Theresa (Wade) Theis; doting grandmother of 23; cherished great-grandmother of 33; dear sister of Vera Morris; fond sister-in-law of Theresa Kepler. Dorothy F. Skrypnyk, , precious child of God, went home to be with “mine Jesus” in the arms of her loving son Johnny in the presence of her daughter Irene, and son James, on Wednesday October 24, 2012. She is the greatest example of Christ’s unconditional, sacrificial love that has ever graced the Earth. She always placed her children’s needs above her own. She was known by many as tender hearted, compassionate and kind. The sun does not shine as brightly any longer, here on Earth, but Heaven has truly become a brighter place. Irene recited the Ukrainian Angel of Protection prayer. She was born in Lviv, Ukraine on Feb. 8, 1923 to the now late Frank and Maria {nee Makszymyszyn} Shemberg. Dorothy was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Chicago. She was the beloved mother of Eugene (Julie) of Antioch, Helen (Bob) Jastrab of Spring Grove, Irene (Bill) Skrypnyk of Lake Villa, James (Linda) Skrypnyk of Chicago, and Johnny Skrypnyk of Lindenhurst; loving grandmother of 10; doting great-grandmother of 18; dear sister of Eugenia Hrynczyszyn of Chicago; the fond aunt of Donna and Irene and great-aunt of Andrew. Otis Peterson
Otis Peterson, a 95-year-old Round Lake Beach resident, passed away at home Thurs. evening, Oct. 25, 2012. He was born in Herrin, IL on Jan. 14, 1917 to the now late Marion and Flora {nee Crawford} Peterson. Otis served his country proudly during WWII, attaining the rank of Tech Sergeant, and was involved in multiple campaigns over various theaters. He retired from John Mansville in Waukegan in 1980 after 33 years. Otis was also a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Marion, IL. He was the beloved father of Mitchell “Mickey” (Beth) Peterson; the loving grandfather of Shaun Peterson and Sarah (Mike) Pfleeger; the doting great-grandfather of Kylie; the fond uncle and cousin of many. Leo E. DeMeyer, a 70-year-old Grayslake resident, passed away early Tuesday morning, Oct. 23, 2012 at Midwest Palliative & Hospice Care Center in Glenview. He was born in Waukegan on Feb. 19, 1942 to the now late Leo B. and Mary L. {nee Blasius} DeMeyer. Leo graduated from Marquette with a Bachelor’s degree, and went to work at O.M.C. in Waukegan for over 15 years. He later worked for Coral Chemical, also in Waukegan, and then worked for Sears in Waukegan after “retiring.” Leo was the beloved husband of 32 years to Carol F. Lacina, whom he wed on Mar. 15, 1980 in Downer’s Grove; loving father of Garrick (Sheila) DeMeyer and Katherine (Adam) Eberle; cherished grandfather of Lewis, Grant, Isabella, and Emma; dear brother of Tom (Mary) DeMeyer, Rich (Marilynn) DeMeyer, and John (Denise) DeMeyer; fond uncle and cousin of many. Sophie N. Ziegler, a 98-year-old Wauconda resident, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 18, 2012 at Victory Lakes Continuing Care in Lindenhurst. She was born in Erie, PA on November 6, 1913 to the now late Walter and Joanna “Jenny” {nee Reszowski} Niedzielski. Sophie worked for G.E. as a crane operator for 27 years. She was a member of the Harbor Creek volunteer fire department, and the women’s auxiliary. Sophie was the loving grandmother of Thomas Smialek, Cindy (Bob) Mayo, Sharon (Mark) Disjardins, Michele Bartfai, June Smialek, and Robin (Chris) Bartels; the dear great-grandmother of 10; and fond sister. Her husband Burn F. Ziegler, daughter Mary “Dolly” Kondziela, son Thomas Smialek, and several siblings preceded her in death. Interment will be held privately. Allen S. Eisner
Allen S. Eisner, a resident of Fox Lake, passed away Monday October 15, 2012, at the age of 66. He was born January 8, 1946 in Chicago to Hilbert and Florence Eisner. Allen was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a true American. He was a veteran having served for the Navy during the Vietnam War. Allen owned and operated All City Electric for 40 years having been successful in 4 different states. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge # 525 of Antioch and served as the first President of the Holiday park Condo and Home Owners Assoc in Fox Lake. Allen is survived by his wife and best friend of 41 years, Phyllis, his children Hillary (Eric Claxton) Eisner, Scott (Rebecca Trammel) Eisner, his grandchildren Alexandria “Alli” Ryan Eisner, Erik Mayfield, and Jonathan Mayfield, and his best friend of 57 years, Arthur Azus. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, and his aunt. Donald F. Lange a resident of Round Lake Beach, IL, passed away Wednesday October 9, 2012, at the age of 83. He was born August 24, 1929 in Chicago, IL. Donald was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Round Lake for 72 years and a member of the Jaycees. He was a Korean War Veteran, a Village Trustee of Round Lake Beach, and worked for the American Can Company in Barrington, IL for 46 years. Donald is survived by his wife Jennivee Lange, whom he wed on September 28, 1996, his children Corinne (Mark) Nordigian, Mary Vela, Teresa (Deacon) Wray, David (Lorry) Lange, Monica (Les) Murray, Rachel (Jayson) Adams, James (Allyson) Burcham, his 20 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Ingrid was married for 60 years to the late John I. Bonnichsen, and is survived by her children Sylvia (Gerold) Block, Angela (Jeff) Vescelius, Alice (Ted) Lohman, and John C. (Jennifer Gulick) Bonnichsen, her grandchildren Jeremy (Lynn) Lohman, Jason (Megan Lord) Romak, Stephanie Lohman, Lisa (Joe) Diener, Melissa (Archie) Dalton, and Erin and Beth Bonnichsen, her 9 great-grandchildren, and her sisters Petra (Peter) Ohms and Heidi.
